Sunday must be full of Good food, Good friends and Families and lots of rest. Though i can’t gauge for the third one , but we did had a nice time while walking the wild trails of san Antonio .
we decided upon the hike as we didn’t wanted to drive much and wanted to spend as much time as we like walking and taking in the fresh air, hence we started for the Rancho open preserve , san antonia around 3.30 (yes little bit late) , but reached there around 4 PM . upon reaching here , you will be amazed by the love public showers on it.. it’s pretty crowded and getting a parking is very difficult especially on weekends. nevertheless after 10 mins driving here and there and waiting finally we managed to find a parking spot near the entrance of the open Reserve.
its a huge nature blessed place providing some challenging trails . we choosed the wild cat loop , though luckily or not we couldn’t sight any wild cats. there was a PG &E trail which is a tough one and also a major loop and minor loop trails.
On the way we saw many deers. kids all around us were having a super time watching them. Its a friendly trail with good coverage from the big eucalyptus and peach trees from all around it. a creek runs all around the trail but unfortunately because of the drought or some reason unknown to me , it had all dried up !
To the kids delight this place has a Deer Hollow Farm.we saw a big (really Big) Pig , some vultures , cows, deers in the park . As Halloween is around the corner , the farm was decorated with lots of Ghostly creatures.
There was a Hay barn too , a very old one . as per the placard there , it was built in the 1900’s along a Hay cabin (build date:1860). the chilling thought of cabin in the woods movie came to my mind while i took a look at it.
The path was shady and very beautiful with small wooden bridges every now and then .Few couples and some families were doing their photoshoots when the sun started taking its evening stroll. The place was also brimming with parents with their kids in the trolley. i guess it ‘s a hit with parents of small kids ! as it’s highly entertaining for small kids because of the deer farm and for parents , it’s a good amount of hike ! in addition to it , there is also a radio controlled aeroplane flying area near the entrance. you can see some interesting loops in the air too made by these mini planes! it was another great sight to look at .
The day passed by and due to our time constraint we couldn’t
complete the whole trail ( though i doubt if we could have done it otherwise :p ). I really liked the place and would love to try the PG &E trail some day soon!! . It’s a great place for hikers of all levels and an awesome hangout place for small kids. Cheers !!
