Happiness is relative , never absolute .. i know many knowledgeable persons have known and preached it .. but i have realized another thing too .. being sad is also relative. Both happiness and sadness are relative to the people who we can see around us or with whom we are in contact .. like for eg .. we can’t see the diseased and poverty stricken syrian kids , sitting at our cosy apartments , we scroll down the facebook wall and think for a moment and pass by it .. we can’t be absolutely sad about it .. so effect ? we don’t do anything about it ..
if for a moment we think about it .. just because we were born in a better half of the world has entitled us to a better living .. we didn’t choose our birthplace , our parents .. in short our life .. its like a big lottery system and trust me we all are very lucky to be born here , in a free country not a war torn , terrorist infested country .. still we complain and are sad about numerous stuffs that happens in our daily lives ..
The fact to remember here is that there will always be people better than you , doing great in life , achieving goals , earning tons , traveling and vacationing much more than what you expect yourself to do ..we can’t fight the urge to be competitive but what we can do is get our mind and thoughts straight ..and again there will always be people living on much less bargain than us .. i don’t know the inner struggle of the person sitting beside me , the sadness of her broken heart or lost loved one..
I have understood this ..”Competing with one’s own reflection is the toughest job in the world .. trying to be better and happier than what we were a day earlier is the main journey and everyone deserves to be happy ” ..
Yes you are right. Both happiness and sadness are relative. It depends mainly on one’s perception.A village man may be poor ,may not afford decent clothing ,,but he may be the happiest person enjoying his life there.
